I hadn't heard of the Liebster Award, so imagine my surprise when I was nominated by fellow blogger Chad Bali of Running for the Average Joe. I actually think the bigger surprise was that someone other than my parents read my blog-haha!
So after Chad's nominating blog I found out a few things:
1) This is an internet only award that is given to bloggers by other bloggers
2) It is pretty much a virtual chain letter, it should be passed on to other bloggers
3) It is typically given to new bloggers with less than 1,000 followers
4) There are variations of the rules, but it pretty much comes down to doing a Q&A about yourself and your blog and then nominate others and let let know that that you have nominated them.
How did you decide on the name of your blog?
A few years ago, I read that age thirty three is supposed to be the best year of your life. I thought it was interesting because it seems like my life gets better with each passing year.
Where does your blogging inspiration come from?
To be honest, I don't even remember why I started blogging! My inspiration now comes from my life and running, especially now since I got into the NYC Marathon through the lottery. I attempted a marathon in 2013 and dropped out, I completely fell apart mentally and physically. Now, I'm determined to finish no matter what. So, if you want to read about a overweight lazy girl who loves reading, Justin Timberlake, and hockey who is training for NYC marathon....then my blog is for you!
What is it that you love most about blogging?
Sharing my experiences with others, whether they be good or bad. There is always someone that can relate to what I'm going thru and it's great to make personal connections.
What is your favorite food?
Hmmm....tough. I'd have to go with pizza and then taco dip that my family has made for years. Matt, my husband, has perfected it and I love it!
What is your favorite thing to drink? (alcoholic or not)
What is an item you can’t live without?
Probably my Kindle, I LOVE to read!
What are eleven random facts about yourself?
- I've broken my elbow three times
- Growing up we had a three legged dog
- When I was young, I wanted to be an astronaut so I could be the first person to walk on the sun
- My first concerts were The Cranberries, Oasis, and No Doubt
- I went to the same high school as Adam Sandler
- I hate chick flicks and horror movies
- I was scared of The Count when I was a kid. Every time there was a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, I'd wake my entire family up and we'd sit in our living room until it was over
- My first dance recital was when I was five. I danced to the Hokey Pokey dressed as a skunk
- I have irrational fears of birds and tornados
- I learned how to play the castanets when I was in high school for a dance when I danced on pointe
- I used to have nightmares about Mumra from the Thundercats
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I really love Garner, NC where we live now, but I think it would be fun to live overseas for awhile, like London. A tropical island wouldn't suck either.
If you could meet anyone from history (alive or dead) who?
I'd like to have a picnic with John Kennedy, Kurt Cobain, Chris Farley, Anne Frank, Janis Jopin, Usain Bolt,The Queen of England and Walt Disney. I'd like to throw in Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears too.
What is your favorite outdoor activity?
Running. I may not be good at it, or even like it sometimes, but it's challenging. I always feel proud of myself after completing a run or race.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Healthy and still happily married with dogs. I would really love to find a cool job that involves running and being able to interact with other runners. Winning the lottery would be pretty cool, if that's in the cards.
Here are my nominations:
The Putt-Putt Runner - A runner who is in the pursuit of a quality of life
Running Escapades - A runner and fitness junkie who now lives in China
Details and Scribbles - A very talented artist who shares her scribbles and ideas
Presently Running - Training for the Chicago Marathon and dealing with an injury with a positive attitude.
Salt Marsh Running - A father who is passionate about running and has informative and fun articles on a healthy lifestyle
