The Newest Member Of Our Family

For the past two weeks or so, we had been thinking about getting another dog. We've been missing the energy Guinness brought into our lives and we think Jager has been missing a companion. I started looking online at shelters and rescues for lab mixes and stumbled across Saving Grace Animals for Adoption. There were quite a few golden retriever/basset hound puppies available so, we made an appointment Friday evening.

We drove to Wake Forest with Jager and met with all the puppies. We were brought out to a bunch of cute little, and surprising calm puppies. We wanted a male, so the woman there picked out "Corey". Jager couldn't have cared less about him, but Matt and I just fell in love with him. He was already fixed, so we were able to bring our Samuel home.

Our first night, was pretty rough. There was a lot of crying and barking, Sammy wasn't a fan of his crate. Matt and I pretty much had a sleepless night. Saturday we had fun walking, playing, and napping. Saturday night went a bit better sleep wise, I'm hoping tonight will go better.

Our friend's baby turned one on Saturday and it was a fun party. I can't believe she is one already!

Training was a bust this week, and I really have no excuse. I'm on track tomorrow though. As soon as Matt gets home tomorrow, I'm off and running! I promise! I have a new watch to use, so I'm excited to see how it works.

  1. Sammy is SO adorable!! It's funny how dogs are so much like kids at first--the getting up all night, and sleepless "parents". It looks like he's fitting right in, though! :)
