I Skipped A Run and I Liked It

This week I only got in two runs and it was nice. My legs felt great on Saturday and even took 7 (almost 8) minutes off my 6 mile time.

I started out on Monday and I felt a little tired so I just went out slow.....reeeeeaaaaaaal slow. I felt good afterwards and didn't care about my time (well, almost).

I really don't remember why I didn't stick to my normal schedule, but I was supposed to run on Thursday but didn't bc we celebrated Julie's birthday was dip, pizza and cake. It was a great time.

I woke up Saturday in a bad mood, but it quickly lifted when I realized how cool it was! I felt great afterwards and didn't even wake up a bit sore this morning. This morning I biked (stationary) for 25 minutes, did some ab work and some resistant band work. I have really been trying to use my foam roller, but I am so damn uncoordinated.

In other news, the VMA's are on tonight and I will be that sad old woman yapping about how much I love Justin TImberlake and how it's about time NSYNC has reunited. The first time I saw NSYNC was in college with some friends and it was a blast. We made signs and everything....ah, the good old days-haha! I feel so dorky watching the awards, but how can I miss JT AND an NSYNC reunion?

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, everyone! A special shout out to my mom for being the best mom ever!

This week went pretty well. The main excitement of the week was that my friends and I got JT tickets at the PNC Arena! So excited, but bummed that it isn't til November!

This week was the last training week before my 2nd half marathon of the Raleigh Triple Crown series. My week day runs went ok, my 5K time blows. I thought I was going to be at least 4 minutes faster than I was. Yesterday's long run was a disaster and a half. Unfortunately, my running partner, Rachel, is injured and won't be able to run. I went out to Umstead and felt pretty confident. Well, I hit a wall at 2.13 miles. Yeah. My water pack chaffed my arm, bugs were EVERYWHERE, a snake scared the bejesus out of me, there was a crazy squirrel convention that creeped me out, it was humid.....urgh, the whiney list goes on and goes. I was as slow as molasses......8 miles in 2 hours. I'm tapering this week so, hopefully, I'll do a lot better on Sunday with rested legs.

I think I decided on my first marathon and it is a fast and flat course in Huntington, WV. It's the Marshall University Marathon and close to Matt's parents house. We will see, 26.2 miles is a loooonnnggggggg run.

Jager is doing better, he has another glucose day test on Thursday, so hopefully his sugars are stable.

I'm looking forward to this week bc my parents are coming in and I'm excited to see them. I took two days off since they are coming in and I have my race. It's going to be a fun week!

This Blog is Officially "And Counting"

Saturday was my 34th birthday, so this blog will now be focusing on the "and counting" part of my life. I'm very much looking forward too all the things ahead!

So, Saturday started with a 10 miler in Cary and it went well. My Garmin pissed me off bc it got full at mile 5 and we had to count our intervals out and then it stopped our time completely, so I'm not sure what our final time was. After our run, Rachel surprised me with AMAZING cupcakes and sang me happy birthday.

After our run, Julie and Jess took me to Southpoint for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and shopping. It was fun! I got four fun shirts and a ring for New Orleans next week.

After I got home, Matt made me a great late dinner and we had some cupcakes. All in all, a GREAT birthday!

Today, we were all super lazy and napped on and off most of the day. We got up eventually and went to the Outback for dinner and I had steak and lobster tail. Yum!

One of my favorite cards was from Denise and it is so funny!

7 Miles And Going Strong!

What a gorgeous weekend! Maybe spring is finally here! Matt and I actually got a few things accomplishment this weekend. Matt raked the front yard and then we worked on cleaning our office and guest room. We have yet to put away our Christmas decorations, but hopefully they will be put all away tonight.

Our run this weekend went really well. We did seven miles at Shelley Lake in 1:42:11 and I felt great after. I had moderate pain in my heel but it feels better today. We changed our intervals to 1:50 walking and 1:00 running, so that's what I will change my weekly runs to now. I can't believe there is only five weeks til our first race for the Raleigh Triple Crown!

JT was on SNL last night and he is super talented. I love his new song "Mirrors". It is looking pretty good that my friends and I will be at Fenway in August to see him. I don't want to get too excited just in case it falls thru, but hopefully we know something by the end of April and can book our flights for a visit.

So, I think that's it! I had a great training week last week, so hopefully my luck will continue and my heel won't get any worse. Have a great week! Thanks for reading!

Pizza: 1 Me: 0

Man, if I don't plan my meals and enjoy them, I head for trouble. I know better!

I started my morning out with a smoothie and it wasn't all that great. Not sure what I did wrong but I drank it anyway bc I was busy this morning and didn't have anything else. I wasn't feeling it and didn't feel satisfied.

I went to lunch late, starving and saw pizza on the corner. I peeked in the box.....tiny square pieces. Ah, why do I think the tiny square ones taste so much better than the triangle pieces? As my WW Roast something or another was heating up, I ate a tiny square. So good and I enjoyed it. I had my taste and I was good. My WW meal was done, took a a bite and....ew. The meat looked like gray squares and tasted chewy and the veggies were limp. I ate it anyway, but wasn't satisfied. I ate another piece of pizza, and then another.....and then two more. OMG. 23 points! Almost a whole day!

I'm not mad that I ate the actual pizza, what I'm upset about it that I didn't realize that the meal wasn't going to cut it. Once I realized that I wasn't going to be satisfied (and I knew this after my second bite), I could've dumped the meal and settled down with two pieces and enjoyed them without going thru my points like water. Two pieces would've been a lot better than 5! So instead of enjoying the two slices and feeling satisfied, now I've had a crappy meal and 5 pieces of pizza and waaayyyyyyy too full. Plus, I feel greasy! Ew!

You eat, you learn, right?

Still, it's embarrassing! Typical fat girl!

Oh, well. I was going to take a night off from working out, but I think it's in my best interest to workout and enjoy burning some of those pizza calories off.

Rule #1: ALWAYS plan healthy and satisfying meals! I think it's so important to LOVE what you are eating, so no matter what evil rep brings in for lunch, I won't care bc I have an amazing lunch waiting for me! Yesterday was a perfect example! I had such a great lunch planned and a rep brought Ruby Tuesday goodies. I just grabbed some fresh salad to go with my lunch and moved along.

I had a nice light dinner of popcorn, skinny cow candy and tea.

The best freaking news of the day is that Justin Timberlake is coming out with new music and planning to tour again. I will probably have to start working the corners to save up enough money to see his show and meet him VIP style. It rarely tours so damn it, I will go out this time!
